On-campus labs:
You have on-campus access to Mathematica in the following computer labs:
- Powdermaker Hall Room 210
- I-Building Rooms 200, 201, and 212
On your own computer:
The City University of New York including Queens College has a site license that allows you to obtain
and run a copy of Mathematica for use on your own personal computer as long as you are currently registered as a
Queens College student.
- Go to http://homer.oct.qc.cuny.edu/~mat503/Mathematica/
- Download and run the .exe file if you are using Windows or the .dmg file if you are using a Mac.
- During the installation process, you will be asked for the Organization Name (CUNY Queens College) and the site
license/password (L3005-9465). Note
down the MathID that Mathematica gives you as the personal number for your computer.
- You will then need to register and generate an activation
key from Wolfram (makers of Mathematica). You will need to know your QC email address, license number,
MathID number,
Mathematica version number, and whether your computer is a Mac or PC. If you have any questions, ask your
instructor or the OCT Help Desk.
- The email message you will receive will have your computer name, MathID number, and license number on one line and your password on
the following line (it has numbers and colons and is about 20 characters long).
- Be advised: This is NOT an instantaneous process. When Wolfram receives the request, they will
send
your personal password to the Queens College License Coordinator.
Make sure to include your name and use your QC email address, because OCT will only forward your
activation key to a QC email address.
